Privacy and Cybersecurity Policy

Our Clients are not Products Your financial information is protected by law and industry standards, and we will talk about that more below. Enchanted Financial Planning’s philosophy of providing the best financial advice without conflict of interest means that your personal and financial information stays as private as it should be. Enchanted Financial Planning will not sell your information to anyone for any reason, and will only give out your information at your direction or to continue services so clients are not harmed by a business disruption.

Enchanted Financial Planning Will Not Sell Your Information. Ever.

Not All Outside Services are Secure We mean it when we say we’re not selling your information, and most of the services we use are designed for financial services and also protect your information. We are on Facebook and LinkedIn - maybe that’s where you found us! We use those services to make contact and tell people about what we do, but social media sells us all as their product. Never send us personal or financial information over social media, because it will not be private if Facebook or LinkedIn has it. Call us for the most privacy, feel free to e-mail, or text us if you’re a risk taker (Apple can read iMessages, and cell phone companies can see texts).

We Do Use Services by Other Companies for sending PDF files for you to sign, for parts of your financial plan, for billing and payments, for our e-mail, and for other business-related services. We will provide those companies the information required to provide services to you. Mostly, that will mean your e-mail address (for PDF signatures or e-mail newsletters, for instance). Sometimes, that will involve your bank information (planning software and payment processing), or your name and address (billing and bookkeeping software). We do not provide any more information than is necessary for the job these services are doing for us. Some of them are financial services companies and are held to the same standards we are in safeguarding your information. Some are more general (e-mail hosting, newsletter delivery) but they’ll have less information - mainly your name and e-mail address.

Now the Details

Information We Collect is a lot - your name, address, e-mail address, phone number, account types and balances, real and personal property, goals and aspirations, even where you want to vacation! We need a lot of information about you and your goals to help you achieve them. We do not keep Social Security or Taxpayer Identification Numbers, account numbers, or other compromising information any longer than we need them for some purpose. (This means we may ask for this information more than once if you’re with us for a long time - better safe than sorry, though!) Most of this information, however, stays with us on our computers and backup services.

Information We Share is only for your benefit, but does include providing information to software services helpful in preparing your financial plan, for example, to suggest proportions of investment types. Your financial account numbers are not disclosed, except by you in authorizing payments by account transfer.

We are Examined by the State of New Mexico for regulatory compliance. We’re sure the auditors are very professional, but they will have access to your information to the extent that they are looking at our files to make sure it’s being collected and used properly.

You Can Authorize Disclosures and in some circumstances we may recommend authorizing us to discuss information with, for instance, caretakers or heirs.

We Work With Families which means that we will discuss all matters freely with the adult members of a household, and will assume that permission from one member to, for instance, review an account, is permission from all. We will also assume that planning information can be shared with all the adult members of the household.

Be Careful with Your Accounts because if you give us an e-mail address or phone number, but share the password with others, they may read an e-mail or hear a voicemail regarding planning information. That kind of sharing is beyond our control and we do not expect it.

Third-Party Links may be provided at your request to for instance, a site that will let you open an educational savings plan or manage investments. We do not control the privacy or cybersecurity policies of those services - please review their policies and be sure your concerns are addressed before creating accounts or providing information to those services.

The Really Fine Details Our web site is hosted on SquareSpace, which does use performance cookies. As of March 2023, we are not aware of any cookies tracking your activities for behavioral advertising or other purposes beyond web site performance, but we do not control SquareSpace. If you sign up for any newsletter we may produce, the service will track whether the newsletter was read through images being loaded, but we will not use any advertising cookies. To the best of our knowledge, all web sites and e-mail hosting is stored within the geographical boundaries of the United States of America, and Enchanted Financial Planning has its primary place of business in the City of Santa Fe, Santa Fe County, in the State of New Mexico.
